Privacy and our promise

Their childhood
isn't content.

Every Era holds some of the most precious things a family has. Here, in plain words, is how we protect them, and what we promise for the decades ahead.

No ads

Not one, anywhere in your family’s space.

No feeds or likes

Nothing to scroll. Nothing to perform.

Never for sale

We don’t sell your family’s information. Ever.

No AI training

Your words, photos and voice never train AI models.

Who can see what

Nothing on Every Era is public. Each letter and Moment is visible only to the people you invite, and only in the ways you allow.

Children see their letters when they’re delivered, not before. Sealed letters stay sealed, even from other family members.

How we protect it

Your family’s words, photos, video and voice are encrypted when they travel and when they’re stored. You never set a password. You sign in with a one-time code, Google or Apple, and two-step sign-in adds another layer. Only a small team at Every Era can reach our systems, and we only look at a family’s content when you ask us for help, or when the law requires it.

Before launch, an independent security firm tests our website, apps and systems, and we keep testing as we grow.

Children’s privacy

Children don’t have accounts of their own. A parent creates and manages each child’s place, and decides when a grown child can see their letters. We never ask children for personal information or show them advertising.

Every Era is for parents and guardians 18 and older. Children never sign up; your child gets their own account, and your letters, when they turn 18. We handle information about children in line with COPPA, the U.S. children’s privacy law. A child’s details are used only to keep and deliver what was written for them.

Yours to keep

You can download everything you wrote and everything delivered to you, letters, photos, video and voice, any time, in standard formats that will still open decades from now. And you can delete your account whenever you choose. Letters you scheduled for your children are still delivered on their dates, unless you remove them. Everything else can be recovered for 30 days, then it’s erased, as our Future Delivery & Data Retention Policy describes.

Our promise

What if we're not here in 2045?

A letter written today might not be opened for twenty years. So we've planned for the long run, including what happens if Every Era ever has to change.

  1. Plenty of notice

If Every Era ever closes, you’ll get at least 90 days’ notice and a full download of everything, including letters not yet delivered.

  2. Everything back

A complete download of everything you wrote and everything delivered to you, in open formats.

  3. Your letters come back to you

Before anything closed, we’d tell you how each undelivered letter can be sent early to the person it was written for, or kept with its date for the person who wrote it, and you’d download everything first.

  4. A trusted contact

Name someone who can look after your children’s letters if you can’t.
